Labyrinth of Duposion #2: Cursed Beauty and the Labyrinth Mystery

This post is a Narrative Puzzle and a work of fiction.

Epic of Zenobios

Please, stay away from me. I am cursed. Just continue with your daily tasks.

This is a passage from an epic believed to have been written in the late period of Dupocion’s flourishing. A beautiful woman, cursed with a dreadful spell, advises the village men to forget about her and return to their daily tasks. However, those who disregard her warning and approach her gradually have their souls drained away…

…you will find yourself endlessly wandering in a labyrinth where triangles fall like rain.

The fate of the men who have been reduced to mere husks is articulated as follows: ‘Triangular Rain,’ ‘Labyrinth.’ Strikingly, despite the setting being a rural area far removed from Dupocion, phrases reminiscent of the ruins weave through the narrative. Is this merely a coincidence?

The symbols scattered around are made up of “white” and “black” elements.

Labyrinthine Structure

The building containing the Room of the Mural is intricately labyrinthine, reminiscent of the Palace of Knossos from Minoan civilization. While only a portion of the first floor remains today, it is said that there were over 500 rooms in its heyday, making it all the more astonishing that this is not a royal palace.

Perhaps owing to the undulating terrain, the first floor is marked by numerous changes in elevation. Yet, reconstructions suggest that the upper levels were even more intricate, with various intermediate heights scattered throughout.

Why was it deemed necessary to construct such a labyrinthine structure? Alternatively, if it evolved into complexity over time, what events or decisions led to this intricate outcome?

To shed light on this, one would desire to understand the purpose of the building, yet that remains an enigma. In earlier discussions, some scholars proposed that it might have served as the living quarters for attendants; however, as evidence surfaced showing ample space for them within the palace itself, that theory faded into the shadows. Thus, the reasons behind the vast number of rooms and the intricate design continue to linger in mystery.

Hint💡

The numbered rooms act like checkpoints. Be sure not to overlook any of the numbers!
