Labyrinth of Duposion #3: Unreachable Room and Strange Carvings

This post is a Narrative Puzzle and a work of fiction.

Unreachable Room

There are so many steps appearing here and there that counting them becomes a challenge. The heights of the floors do not align, creating a situation where you might find yourself having climbed only to descend again at the next step or face a dead end, lending an air of randomness to the experience. Awkward gaps often emerge beneath the floors, resulting in a design riddled with dead space. If this serves no purpose, it could potentially lead to a groundbreaking revelation that would alter our perspective on this era. Yet, as archaeologists, we persist in our research, convinced that there must be some underlying reason for it all.

By the way, when retracing the complex floor layout as accurately as possible, something peculiar becomes apparent: no matter the route taken, the room with the mural cannot be reached. The situation, in which the room is entirely abandoned among the intricately overlapping floors, is nothing short of unsettling. Whether the reconstruction is flawed or this was done intentionally, no one knows the answer at this point.

Hint💡

Characters from an upside-down world are mixed in, but if their gravitational directions don’t change, only one can reach the room.

Decorated Entrance

The entrance to that room, which should have been left behind between the floors, is adorned with carved decorations. Around the opening, where there was likely once a door, intricate patterns are carved on the outside. In a building with almost no other decorations, why was there a need to carve such elaborate designs in a place like this?

Moreover, upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that amid the repetitive patterns, there are sections where entirely different combinations of designs emerge. It is as if each segment carries a special meaning of its own. The way these designs encircle the opening evokes a sense of narrative within us.

Hint💡

Do the arrangements of black dots in patterns A to D look familiar?
